About
The Albizzia ensemble is a formation that is rare today but was very common in the 18th century, opening up many pages of the repertoire: excerpts from oratorios, cantatas and operas by Purcell, Handel, Vivaldi and Bach... These are generally pieces for solo instruments, with or without voice. Most often, these pieces have a brilliant, virtuosic character. The critic Jacques Bonnaure of Classica writes that L'Albizzia “achieves refined work, maintaining a homogeneity and a sound image of great purity.” Musicians: Benoît Dumon (direction, organ and countertenor) Gaëlle Vitureau (soprano) Anthony Abel (solo trumpet) About Benoît Dumon: Born in 1986, first prize in organ and improvisation at the Marseille conservatory, he also trained in Aix-en-Provence in harpsichord, continuo and singing. A soloist with major ensembles (Concerto Soave, Musica Antiqua Provence), he performs recitals on the finest organs in France. Since 2018 he has been artistic director of the Rencontres Musicales de Cassis and, since 2020, Maître de Chapelle of Gap Cathedral.
